AA Bondy is on the road again and making noise with new audiences.

AA Bondy has been making waves since the release of his album American Hearts last year on Fat Possum Records. Recently, the songwriter played two shows in the tri-state area opening for San Diego based Delta Spirit. Bondy, who has been on tour almost constantly since December, only gets better each show.

On this tour, Bondy was allotted nearly an hour to play and while he left out some songs that have become staples (such as "Lover’s Waltz" and "American Hearts," the latter of which he performed on Conan O'Brien), the new songs which replaced them are well worth missing those staples.

On Friday, June 27th, Bondy played Union Hall in Brooklyn. Union Hall is a bar and restaurant upstairs with a music hall downstairs. The venue is lively and even includes a bocce ball court. (They also conduct spelling and grammar bees monthly.) This is a very cool venue, though it is easily missed, driving down 5th Avenue in Brooklyn.

At Union Hall, Bondy's set list included:

- Rapture (Sweet Rapture)

- Witness Blues

- There's A Reason

- John The Revelator

- 'Killing Tree'

- Mightiest Of Guns

- Among The Pines

- O The Vampyre

- Vice Rag

- Black Rain, Black Rain

- Killed Myself When I Was Young

- 'I Want To Make It With You' (also know as 'You Got To Die')

"John The Revelator" and "I Want To Make It With You" are both decedents of traditional folk songs, solidifying proof of Bondy's folk influences. Bondy's voice is rustic and fits the genre perfectly. Both are new songs not featured on American Hearts as are 'Killing Tree' (which may or may not be the song's official title), "The Mightiest of Guns," "Among The Pines," and "O The Vampyre."

Bondy seems to like keeping himself somewhat of a mystery, as is obvious in the biography written on him for the Fat Possum website. Bondy also recorded a session at Daytrotter.com, which is up for free (and legal) download! The session includes many new songs and is addictive. It also includes some insight to AA Bondy as a songwriter. About the new song "Among The Pines," Bondy says, "Wrote this one after spending a week on an island. A love song to a forest." The story is probably true.

Saturday night at Khyber in Philadelphia, Bondy was, again, given about and hour and the crowd was very attentive and respectful. The bar is small and the music hall runs parallel to the bar room. Surprisingly, despite the fact that the venue has no doors to separate the music hall from the bar, the room stays relatively quiet during quiet acts, such as Bondy's.

At Khyber, his set list included:

- John The Revelator

- Witness Blues

- 'Hang Down Your Head' (not "Hang Down Your Head, Tom Dooley")

- The Mightiest Of Guns

- O The Vampyre

- Among The Pines

- 'Killing Tree'

- There’s A Reason

- Vice Rag

- Black Rain, Black Rain

- Killed Myself When I Was Young

'Hang Down Your Head' is another new song (whose title is still unofficial) and is not featured on American Hearts.

Bondy will be performing at New York’s Highline Ballroom on July 9th with Alejandro Escovedo before heading out on tour with Bon Iver.
