Details on New Bonnie "Prince" Billy AlbumBeware is due out March 17th on Drag City Records
Long-running underground folk artist Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, has announced info on his latest album.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy is an important figure in the underground folk landscape. For the past ten years his often dark and beautiful songs have cut to the core of all that is human while relying on tones that are purely American. From the stunning and morose tenderness of I See a Darkness to this year's decidedly status-quo-changing Lie Down in the Light, listeners have been treated to well-crafted tunes with lingering and honest sentiment that manages to move between raw desperation and soothing intimacy. Bonnie "Prince" Billy also helped to put largely folk-based Drag City Records, a well-regarded indie label, on the map. Maybe more importantly he also lead the way for the underground folk revival that has sprung up over the past 5 or 6 years. From slow country waltzes to creaky folk odes, he has delivered one fantastic album after another, and now fans can look forward to a new record on March 17th. Release InfoBonnie 'Prince' Billy's new album will be titled Beware and will be released on March 17th via his long-time home Drag City Records. According to a new press release this album will continue the trends started on this year's Lie Down in the Light. That means lush, multi-instrumental arrangements and an array of moods should be present on the record. The press release has also promised that this will be his most ambitious project to date, which is a bold statement considering the ten plus albums bearing the Bonnie "Prince" Billy moniker, as well as the fact that this is his second album released this year alone. Beware CollaboratorsIt has become pretty common for Bonnie "Prince" Billy to work with a wide variety of musicians on his records and Beware will be no different. This time those responsible for fleshing out the album include Josh Abrams, Jennifer Hutt, Emmett Kelly, Michael Zerang, Dee Alexander, Leroy Bach, Jim Becker, Robert Cruz, DV DeVincentis, Jon Langford, Greg Leisez, Rob Mazurek, Nicole Mitchell and Azita Youseffi. The large number of collaborators seems to justify the claims of this album being more grandiose than any of Will Oldham's (aka Bonnie "Prince" Billy) past efforts. Track ListingThe track listing for Beware has also been released. It includes... 1. Beware Your Only Friend 2. You Can't Hurt Me Now 3. My Life's Work 4. Death Final 5. Heart's Arms 6. You Don't Love Me 7. You Are Lost 8. I Won't Ask Again 9. I Don't Belong to Anyone 10. There Is Something I Have To Say 11. I Am Goodbye 12. Without Work, You Have Nothing 13. Untitled
