Would you class Damien Rice as "folk rock"? I think so.

In which case, would you not agree that this superlative and dark follow-up to "O" was a standout album of last year?

You're right that Damien Rice's latest album was very good. I liked it quite a bit, though, in my mind, it did not equal the previous effort.

Thinking about it, he probably would have made my Top 15 or 20 albums of last year.

Nevertheless, anything he does will probably be better than 90% of what comes out.

It is just another example that Top 10 lists, etc. are sort of a stupid exercise. There is always something left off, and to begin with, musical taste is so subjective that people are never going to agree who should be on the list.
